All-on-4 – Powell, OH

A Full Set of Teeth on Four Implants

All-on-4 implant dentures

When addressing some severe cases of tooth loss, it’s often more efficient to mount a full denture on several dental implants than to replace each tooth individually. This solution neatly resolves many of the difficulties patients commonly have with traditional dentures such sliding around during speech and chewing as well as jawbone erosion, and dentures can often be placed on the same day the patient receives All-on-4 implants. Here’s a brief guide to how all-on-4 dental implants work, but please contact our Powell office if you have any more questions.

How Does All-on-4 Work?

Dental implants are titanium posts surgically placed in and naturally fused with the jawbone to create the most reliable, durable, and lifelike tooth restoration available. However, these appliances require the jawbones to be thick enough to be placed, and All-on-4 can securely fasten a full denture to your gums using the fewest implants possible. To do this, four dental implants are placed at the thickest points of the jawbone. The two posts located in the rear of the mouth will be positioned at 45-degree angels to maximize their security and leverage. A lifelike denture will then be mounted on the implants with abutment pieces, resulting in a comfortable and reliable set of teeth that should never slide out of position.

Am I a Candidate for All-on-4?

Almost all patients who have lost all teeth along one or both arches can be good candidates for All-on-4. Even if your jawbone has atrophied since you lost your teeth, you may be able to become an excellent candidate for the treatment later after receiving bone grafts. In many cases, patients with thin jawbones can receive All-on-4 because of the angled positions of the rear implants. After restoring your smile, you’ll still need to keep up with regular dental appointments while practicing excellent oral care at home by brushing and flossing regularly, making smart eating decisions, and breaking bad habits like smoking and chewing ice.

Benefits of All-on-4

All-on-4 offers a number of considerable benefits like:

  • Permanently fixing dentures in the mouth so they can be cleaned like regular teeth without any elaborate soaking rituals.
  • Feeling as natural as real teeth
  • Restoring far more chewing power than traditional dentures so patients can enjoy a wide range of foods.
  • Preventing jawbone erosion to preserve your youthful appearance.

All-On-4 vs. Traditional Implants

All-on-4 differs from traditional dental implants in several ways like:

  • Traditional implant dentures often require up to eight posts to be placed, which makes All-on-4 more cost-effective and less surgically intensive.
  • All-on-4 often does not require bone grafts, which eliminates the need to wait several months for the recovery period to be over before receiving implants.
  • All-on-4 dentures can often be placed on the same day as your implant surgery so you can immediately begin enjoying your new smile.
